So I’m back from my trip from the amazing Gayvn Awards in San Fran at the world famous Castro Theater and what a weekend it was! First of all I stayed with Danny at the delicious host hotel which was the Westin off of Market. I love a nice hotel room. I love to put on the air conditioning no matter what the temperature is outside and rent movies (this trip it was “Doubt”) and order room service. I love going to the golds gyms in different cities and I love eating at nice restaurants. What was especially exciting to me was to find (for the first time ever) the Westfield Mall on Market street. Ok…I love malls, and this was the number one mall I’ve ever been to! Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, True Religion, Lucky Jeans and an entire bottom floor consisting of a fabulous food court with the biggest Bristol Farms Grocery store that I have ever seen!
Friday night I thought that we were supposed to be at the parties at 9 pm. Well my friend Baileey from Baileey Productions called me to ask why I wasn’t at the falcon party at 6 with everyone else. Ooops!! Sorry Troy!!! I got dressed fast, grabbed a cab and got myself to the Castro just in time to walk in the tail end of the Falcon party. Then a whole group of us headed over to the Hot House Party at the bar Lookout. Packed, Packed, Packed! Gorgeous guys, Ty LeBeouf, did I say packed? It was really the party to be at. All the porn stars were there and I have to say that Hot House really has some great guys! I even hired a guy on the spot to be in Chi Chi’s movie TAKE being filmed here this weekend. A really hot sexy boy named Luke Cassidy who is just fresh out of his Hot House contract. Chi Chi girl..you’re gonna love this one!!! Always at work…even when on vacation!!!
Well Sat night came and what an event. What a 4 hour plus event. What a long long event. I have to say the host Greg, the Gay Sportscaster, was very good. He actually tried to keep the show moving even when Janice Dickinson slowed the whole thing down with what I thought was slurry words and stupid behavior. She actually said at one point she loved Harvey Milk! Was that because she was at a gay event in the Castro Theater? She also said that fashion and gay porn do not belong together. Try telling that to Andrew Cristian and all the other designers who have hired us to do fashion shows and wear their clothing!!!
Alec Mapa was the funniest to me by far! He was light and fun and kept his part of the show moving. I loved when he danced with all the drag queens to single ladies! But by far the best thing that happened (besides Channel 1 winning their awards for Best Ethnic Film BLACK BALLED 6, Best Bisexual Film SHIFTING GEARS, Best Marketing EXCESS, and Best Website..our very own C1R.com! ) was when Michael Lucas, whom I usually cant stand when he is up on stage, brought the show to a screeching halt by telling everyone how shameful it was to be giving Brent Corrigan awards and recognition after what he had done when he was a minor. If you are unfamiliar with the story of Brent Corrigan please catch up on it…and I’m sure you’ll agree with Mr. Lucas that we should not be praising him at this point and time. Only Michael Lucas would have the balls to jump on stage in true San Fran style and plead his case! He got booed and yelled at the rest of the night, but this boy was really impressed that he said what so many of us were thinking!
So I did get to see lots of my old friends. Shante from Hot house, Eric from TLA video, Sister Roma, Josh Griffin, Josh West, Cameron Marshall (who was my co – presenter), Lex Sabre, Derrick Hanson, Mocha, Mick Hicks, Howard from Fabscout, Baileey & Dallas and all their boys from Florida, Steven Scarborough from Hot House, John Dude from Topco and Fetish King/Star of TAKE, Derek De Silva.
So another year has come and gone and no gayvn for this director! But watch out for Chicago Grabbys! They always seem to help a brother out!
